Het is zo ver. Op woensdag 10 mei 2006 heeft Johan Grönling, de eerste divinespeler die ooit de kleuren van Antwerpse FC verdedigde, onze club verlaten voor een VIe-klasser uit Israel. De club had wel gehoopt om iets meer voor dit monument te kunnen rapen dan wat ze nu gekregen heeft, maar gunt Grönling deze nieuwe stap in zijn carrière wel.

Iedereen bij Antwerpse FC (zowel ex-medespelers, trainer, bestuursleden als supporters en sympathisanten) wenst hem nog veel succes voor de toekomst toe.

Comment?

Als eerste speler in de clubgeschiedenis bereikte Johan Grönling het divine niveau. Dit betekent wel dat hij na een trouwe dienst van 134 matches (waarven 77 officiële) de club zal verlaten. Iedereen wenst hem alvast veel succes in zijn verdere carrière.

Bovendien zijn er nog enkele transfers op til. En niet van de minste. Ook oa Leif Hansson (85 matches waarvan 59 officiële) en monument Sidney Berretta (218 matches waarvan 189 officiële) staan op de TL. Ook hen wensen we alvast veel succes.

Om Antwerpse FC weer financieel gezonder te maken, wordt er binnen en rond de club momenteel naarstig gezocht naar oplossingen. Er was met de spelersgroep een akkoord bereikt om drastisch in te leveren op de lonen (tot zelfs 80% in sommige gevallen wordt gefluisterd!), maar de spelersvakbond protesteerde. Hoewel de club er op wees dat het om een overeenkomst ging, verschool de vakbond zich achter het argument dat eerder gemaakte afspraken moeten nagekomen worden. Wordt ongetwijfeld vervolgd.

Dat het niet goed gaat met Antwerpse FC, is wel duidelijk. Het bestuur van de club erkent dat er de voorbije seizoenen op alle vlakken fouten zijn gebeurd, maar is toch vooral ook teleurgesteld dat deze kern niet in staat was om beter te presteren, ook al bleef de club niet bespaard van blessures.

De cuprun was wel degelijk, maar kon niet verhinderen dat er gedurende dit en het vorige seizoen bijna 7 miljoen € verloren is gegaan, om uiteenlopende redenen. Het bestuur zoekt naar oplossingen.

It's obvious that Antwerpse FC isn't doing very well. The management of the club acknoledges there have been made errors in all fields, but they are still disappointed this selection wasn't capable of performing better, although the club had to deal with numerous injuries.

The cuprun was reasonable, but couldn't prevent the loss of almost 7 million € for various reasons during this and last season. The management are looking for solutions.

Halfweg het seizoen kan Antwerpse FC niet tevreden zijn. De hoop om een nieuw record-cuprun te doen moest te vroeg worden opgegeven en ondertussen is het ook in de competitie momenteel krasselen voor de punten.

Er kunnen echter wel verzachtende omstandigheden ingeroepen worden. De club heeft namelijk al geruime tijd af te rekenen met een heel aantal langdurige blessures. Voor sommigen is het einde wel stilaan in zicht. Misschien kan de club in haar sterkste opstelling dan nog wel een rol spelen.

Halfway the season Antwerpse FC can't be satisfied. The hope to achieve a new record cuprun had to be given up early and meanwhile the club has to fight for its points in the league too.

Mitigating circumstances can be called upon though. As it happens, the club has been dealing with a string of lengthy injuries for quite some time now. For some of these players misery will soon be over at last. Maybe then the club can still play an important role when in their strongest line-up.

Ook dit seizoen kwam Antwerpse FC niet verder dan de 6e ronde van de cup. De record-cuprun blijft dus op 7 rondes staan (in seizoen 9).

Na de vele zware blessures van de laatste weken is het misschien toch een kleine opluchting dat de club nog maar op 1 front moet strijden. En ook daar ziet het er voorlopig niet zo best uit.

Verder zal de club deelnemen aan de PTTP-cup die over enkele weken begint en ondertussen worden er contacten gelegd met grote buitenlandse clubs voor friendlies.

This season Antwerpse FC again didn't make it past the 6th round of the cup. So the record cuprun stays at 7 rounds (this in season 9).

Because of the many serious injuries over the last few weeks, it may be a small relief that the club now only has 1 front left to be battled upon. And there too it isn't a pretty picture at the moment.

Furthermore the club will participate in the PTTP-cup which will start in a few weeks and meanwhile contacts for friendlies with great foreign clubs are made.

Seizoen 14 (het 13e al van Antwerpse FC) werd afgesloten op een 3e plaats in de rangschikking. Aangezien de club nog steeds jaagt op die terugkeer naar IIIe zijn we maar gematigd tevreden.

Wat de spelers betreft, Herman Masson (190 matchen in totaal waarvan 175 officiële) blijft, evenals Sidney Berretta (212 matchen in totaal waarvan 183 officiële). Hun staat van dienst mag gezien worden. Er wordt de komende weken nog gespeurd naar versterkingen.

Voor seizoen 15 hoopt de club opnieuw op de promotie en een goede cuprun. Haalde Antwerpse FC afgelopen seizoen nog de 6e ronde, dan is dit maal de 8e ronde het doel.

Season 14 (the 13th of Antwerpse FC already) has ended with a 3rd place in the table. As the club still is aiming for a return to division III, we can only be moderately satisfied.

Where the players are concerned, Herman Masson (190 matches in total of which 175 official matches) stays, as well as Sidney Berretta (212 matches in total of which 183 official matches). Their record of service is admirable. There will be searched for reinforcements during the forthcoming weeks.

In season 15 the club hopes to get promoted again and also to make a decent cuprun. While Antwerpse FC achieved to get into the 6th round last season, this time the 8th round will be the objective.

Voor de wedstrijd van zondag zullen er weer enkele spelers in de bloemetjes gezet worden vanwege de mooie statistieken die ze bij de club hebben laten optekenen.

Ouderdomsdeken Herman Masson zal zondag waarschijnlijk immers zijn 175e officiële wedstrijd spelen voor de club, wat zijn totaal op 190 brengt. Enkel Sidney Berretta doet beter met 183 officiële en 212 matchen in totaal.

Doelman Arkadiusz Plewinski zal ook gevierd worden voor zijn 50e officiële wedstrijd.

=> This 19-year old magnificent offensive winger is despite his young age considered as a very important part of our attacking compartment. Although he is highly talented, he is still very eager to learn from his fellow wingers (Bartasevicius, Poelmans, Guichardet). He is very determined to provide for the strikers.

=> This 36-year old brilliantly experienced Swedish midfielder with outstanding playmaking and solid ability in defending, has been with the club for quite a long time (since 25/09/2003). We would like to thank him for his loyalty and commitment during his stay at the club.
