Mid-PLAYOFFS Update Tuesday, November 2, 2010
Hello soccer fans!

The Fall 2010 outdoor league hits its final stretch! The first round of playoffs is now behind us, and less than a week is left to play before FINALS take place Sunday. This means that for the title of Intramural Champions and Intramural Topscorer, only the very top teams and goalscorers are left in contention! With the race at its most intense, who will prevail at season's end?

Scorers and Team Rankings have been updated for all games up to (and including) Monday November 1st.

In Men's A, ex-McGill Redmen Michael Stein remains in the nº1 spot but has been joined by Uncle Ruckus teammate Shawn Amarasekera. The two former varsity players both total 6 , and have to watch out for the close proximity of EDO McGill's Michael Joyal and Happy Tree Friends trio Ahmet Turkdogan, Claude La Hausse de Lalouvière, and Nicholas Ormond (all with 4 ).

In Men's B, Woohyun Cho is continuously keeping busy in the goalscoring department, as indeed the Corea FC 2 striker has upped his total by +3 and reached 10 overall. But HEAR HEAR!! A SMASHING 9-goal performance (!!) by Brendan Fairweather in his team's 15-0 win over undermanned Crouching Tiger Hidden Drogbas, gives the Lower Field United player a total of 11 and the current nº1 spot in the MB rankings!!! Can he maintain his lead till the end? More importantly, could we ask for a better showdown in MB than a Corea FC 2 vs. Lower Field United Quarter-Final? It's all happening tonight people: Tuesday 2-Nov @ 21:00, Molson Stadium.

Down with the ladies, the Fugacity girls are topping the charts! Team captain and Fall 2008 WB topscorer Sofia Solar is tied with teammate Lyne Ismail with 6 . Given the stage of the season, and the fact their closest rival still in the competition has only 3 goals, it looks like the topscoring title will either be a Mexican or Lebanese affair...

Down in Co-Rec A, is it too early to say it? Chances are the answer is NO, so here goes: chalk up another goalscoring title for all-time topscorer Ahmet Turkdogan. After a solid 5-goal performance in his last 3 games, the Manayek & Chicks striker totals 8 , well ahead of Four Points or None's Morier bros. duo Jonathan & Geoffrey (3 goals each).

In Co-Rec B, William Copp has continued to score since our last update, increasing his total by +3 and now reaching 10 . The TBA striker has a considerable lead over 2nd and 3rd-ranked Cox Ballers captain Malcolm Funt and Beauties's Nicolas Epstein (7 and 6 respectively). At the Semi-finals stage of Playoffs, looks like the title's almost in the bag for Will.

And lastly in Co-Rec C, due to the disqualification of one of the former leaders (playing for multiple teams within the Co-Rec league), it is now Spaniard FC's Simon Roberge who is leading the chart, 5 and only one goal ahead of Snap Snaps' Nikhil Garg 4 ).

That's all for now guys! Our next update will be next week giving you the season winners! Until then, good luck to all players and teams still in the competition!!

Week 5 UPDATE Thursday, October 21, 2010
Scorers and Team Rankings have been updated for all games up to (and including) Tuesday October 19th.

THANKSGIVING Update! Friday, October 8, 2010
Hello soccer fans!

One full month has passed since the league launch in September, which means we are now officially at mid-season! A perfect point in time to analyze the scorer race, and just who exactly is on track to become the next IM topscorer! Remember that these great Topscorer shirts are on the line but more importantly, McGill Intramural mugs for team champions! So keep Working hard fillin' that net!

Scorers and Team Rankings have been updated for all games up to (and including) Friday October 8th.

In Men's A, ex-McGill Redmen Michael Stein has really taken a firm control over the proceedings! His latest hat-trick earns the Uncle Ruckus striker first spot with 6 . He is followed by Claude La Hausse de Lalouvière (Happy Tree Friends) and Ruckus teammate Shawn Amarasekera, respectively with 4 and 3 .

In Men's B, Woohyun Cho has been keeping busy: in his latest game the Corea FC 2 striker has scored two more and now brought his goaltotal to 7 . Woohyun seems to be well on the way to claim the title at season's end, but he must watch out for two other players who have also been quite prolific lately. Indeed, Fall 2009 CRC topscorer Yoichi Kadota (Daymen) and July / Fall 2009 MB topscorer Brian Hamilton (Full Steel) are trailing just two goals behind. Oh, and right behind them? A group of 8 players at 4 who *also* might have something to say on the scoring race.

Down with the ladies, we still have a fairly low goaltotal but it's the girls from Bieber Fever who are showing us the way! Shauna Justinich and Theodora Skolnik now total 3 , but are right on par with Fall 2008 WB topscorer Sofia Solar (Fugacity) and Paul The Octopus's Annie Pierre.

Down in Co-Rec A, Winter 2007 MA topscorer Jonathan Morier has taken the lone lead for the moment (he totals 3 ), but his chasers are very very close behind. There are actually 6 individuals with 2 at the moment, but it seems to be a strictly Four Points or None / Manayek & Chicks affair: players from either team solidly occupy the first 7 positions of the CRA ranking at the moment!

In Co-Rec B, Cox Ballers captain Malcolm Funt has upped his goaltotal by one, but he is no longer our leader! Indeed, standing in 1st position we now find TBA's William Copp, who has doubled his goals since the last update and now totals 6 ! One goal behind we find Malcolm, followed by Beauties's Nicolas Epstein and Lydia Vezina of FC Sartorius at 4 . Lydia is not only our first Co-Rec female leader of the semester, but she also earns the performance-of-the-week award with her 4-goal show in the match vs. Joga Bonito. Quite a feat!!

And lastly in Co-Rec C, Snap Snaps' Nikhil Garg maintains his lead with 4 , shortly followed by 2v2 Winter 2010 MB topscorer Hai-Son Nguyen.

That's all for now guys!
I wish you all a very happy Canadian Thanksgiving and see you soon after the break!

Fall 2010 - 16 days of goalscoring... Wednesday, September 29, 2010
Greetings soccer enthusiasts!

More than two weeks have passed since the season began, and many of you have been keeping busy in front of the net! In MB/CRB particularly, where the topscorers already total 5 goals and have no intention of stopping there. Let's have a first look at the scorer standings then, shall we?

Scorers and Team Rankings have been updated for all games up to (and including) Tuesday September 28th.

In Men's A, Michael Stein and Shawn Amarasekera have taken an early lead on their rivals, but only by a short margin. The Uncle Ruckus pair total 3 , one more than their direct rivals Nicolas Jamin (EDO McGill), Claude La Hausse de Lalouvière (Happy Tree Friends), and Spencer Irish (Hugo).

In Men's B, Corea FC 2's Woohyun Cho has been scoring in every one of his team's matches so far. It shows, because the lad now totals 5 and has taken a firm lead over the rest of the competition. But watch out for French Touch's Christophe Boyer and double Fall 2009 2v2 topscorer Guy Northcote (Full Steel), because they are close behind with 4 .

Down in the ladies' category, there is no clear leader in Women's B yet because of the low goalscoring total. Yet a group of four currently stands above the average: Danielle Bensler of Ballin, as well as Fugacity trio Erin Weevers, Lisa Halliwell, and captain Sofia Solar. They all total 2 .

Down in the Co-Rec categories we start to see some really familiar faces. Namely in Co-Rec A the goaltotal remains low at the moment, but Winter 2007 MA topscorer Jonathan Morier (Four Points or None) and all-time topscorer Ahmet Turkdogan (Manayek & Chicks) have already taken somewhat of a lead. Both players tally 2 , together with another Manayek & Chicks player Stephen Bishop.

In Co-Rec B, it is the Cox Ballers who are dominating both the team as well as the topscorer standings! Captain Malcolm Funt currently showing us how it's done with 5 , closely followed by teammate John Willcock and Joga Bonito's Bryn Argue and TBA's William Copp. The trailing trio totals 3 .

And lastly in Co-Rec C, several players seem to have a claim on the topscorer position, yet it is Nikhil Garg who has a very slight advantage over the rest. The Snap Snaps forward tallies 3 .

That's all for now guys! Our next two updates will take place over the week-end and just before Canadian Thanksgiving. Tune in then!
