Fall 2009 PLAYOFFS: Pre-Semi-Finals Update Friday, October 30, 2009
Greetings soccer enthusiasts!

We have almost reached the month of November by now, which alas means the outdoor season will soon be over. It also means that by this stage of the competition only the BEST of the BEST remain in contention: teams which have battled hard game after game, overcoming obstacles & opponents to score the vital goals necessary to take them this far.

And of course, who says goals also says goalscorers. As we await the Semi-Final rounds to be played Saturday, let's have one final look at the topscoring race before results are finalized next week!

Scorers and Team Rankings have been updated for all games up to (and including) Monday Oct 30th.

In Men's A, the goalscoring total still remains fairly low but the status-quo has been broken! And who better to do it than all-time topscorer Ahmet Turkdogan? The Turkish striker leads the way with 4 , tied for 1st spot with teammate and Happy Tree Friends captain Claude La Hausse de Lalouvière. But watch out for the players tied for 3rd with 3 : except for one, they all still have a chance of amplifying their goaltotal this week-end!

In Men's B, the 6-goal performance of Hyun-Jin Kim has him still solidly installed in the nº1 position, however FC Corea's first-round elimination has put a serious dent in Hyun-Jin's hopes of getting the topscoring crown. Can Thibaud Sonntag (French Touch) and Brian Hamilton (Full Steel) take advantage?

Finally in Men's C, the season has come to an end and a topscorer has been crowned! And believe it or not, it isn't FC Laureola's Andrew Tozer (whose 9 goals by mid-season made him seem virtually unstoppable). However since then, Andrew's scoring prowess seemingly faded and allowed a certain Tehranto FC forward to overtake. So congratulations to DONALD SEWELL, Fall 2009 MC Topscorer with a whopping total of 12 !

Down in the ladies' category, it's really been a two-team battle for Women's A league domination & topscoring this year! Team Supreme and PEKers ranked at 1st and 2nd spot respectively in regular season; does seeing their players play a protagonist role in the goalscorer standings really come as a surprise? So far it's PEKers' Lindsay Hogan who's got the upper hand (4 ), but Kelsey Rufiange (Team Supreme, 3 ) still lurks behind...

Finally in Women's B, the season might not be over yet but by all accounts & purposes the topscoring race is! Grass Monkeys newcomer Kyrin Dhaliwal has been on an absolute tear lately and now totals 11 !! Can she tally two more and beat this season's record by Donald Sewell in MC?

Down in Co-Rec B, it seems the topscoring race is a done deal for Ahmet Turkdogan also: with 13 in the bag the Sexed Up captain will certainly add goalscoring title nº8 to an already plentiful collection. That is, unless TPON's Julian Ilson and William Scott Johnston play the match of their life in the CRB final Monday!

And lastly, there finally seems to be an early winner in the in Co-Rec C division! With his 3-goal performance in Tribune FC's latest game, Yoichi Kadota tallies 4 and may even increment his total in Saturday's last game of the season!

That's all for now guys! Next update will be next week for all finalized rankings!

Fall 2009: After 3 WEEKS of Play... Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Greetings soccer enthusiasts!

Three weeks have passed since the season's start and it is now time for our first look at the scoring charts!! Usually players remain pretty shy (goalscoring-wise) in the outdoor league at least until the beginning of playoffs, but this season forwards have really been keeping busy especially in the MB/MC/CRB divisions! So let's have a look, shall we?

Scorers and Team Rankings have been updated for all games up to (and including) Monday Oct 6th.

In Men's A, the status quo is still fully maintained after matchday 3: eight players are currently tied for 1st-rank (2 ) and about twice as many trail behind with a single tally. This is a division in which historically (since 2004, when we started these scoring charts) the topscorer managed to produce no more than 5 goals come season end, so the current goal scarcity should come to no surprise to anyone (better competition = more difficult to score, right?). Can the record be broken THIS year?

In Men's B, one could say FC Corea striker Hyun-Jin Kim has been keeping busy: with 6 after four games it certainly looks that way. Except for the fact Hyun-Jin achieved this total... in a SINGLE GAME!!! Something to keep 2nd-ranked Gilbert Patrick Holder (Bucky Balls, 5 ) and 3rd-ranked Jean Amioncy (Eejits), Nicolas Epstein (Fat Chicks), Joni Yosipiw (Munchie Patrol FC), and Abdullah Alkhuzai (Team Manayek) thinking... (Hyun-Jin's game ended 9-0 by the way)

Finally in Men's C, David Boivin (FC Hammer), Michael Fohring (McConnell FC), and Güven Bolukbasi (Nyquist Vicons) have been keeping busy themselves (they all tally 3 ), but they've got nothing on FC Laureola's Andrew Tozer!!! Andrew's goaltotal of 9 puts him solidly at the top, and nothing short of an earthquake would seem capable to dislodge him...

Down in the ladies' category, while Team Supreme seem to have taken the lead of Women's A standings it is actually PEKers who are dominating the scoring charts. Lindsay Hogan sits solidly at the top (3 ) and she is closely followed by Winter 2009 WA topscorer Jamie Bolduc. But watch out for Casey Conway and Kelsey Rufiange lurking behind: the two Team Supreme teammates might have something to say on who gets the last laugh!

Finally in Women's B, the current team standings fully reflect our current topscorers: with Grass Monkeys and Legacy at full points after three matchdays, it should come as no surprise to see their strikers (respectively Kyrin Dhaliwal and Katherine Shoults) topping the charts. They total 4 and 3 .

Down in Co-Rec B, we find some familiar topscoring names. Sexed Up captain and all-time topscorer Ahmet Turkdogan's doing his thing again: 7 and plenty more to come certainly. However the relenting pressure of Winter 2007 and Winter 2009 MB topscorer Maxime Valsamas (Screaming Scoregasms) and Julian Ilson (Three Points of None) must be making itself felt, as the two players are only one goal behind at 6 ...

And lastly in Co-Rec C, there seems to be the LEAST amount of goals scored so far, so much so it's the GIRLS who are setting the example for the GUYS!! Indeed, Accrington Stanley FC forward Allison MacKellar sits at nº1, along with Jordan Henser of FC Carcinoma. They both total 2 each.

That's all for now guys! Next update will be made not very long before playoffs begin, so make sure to tune in in a couple of weeks' time!
