Greetings Soccer enthusiasts!

The Spring 2009 league has now reached its vital turning point: the regular season is over and PLAYOFFS are on the horizon, set very soon to begin on the greeny pitch of Forbes Field. So soon in fact, that Monday of this week the top teams from the Men's B, Men's C, and Co-Rec B leagues already got busy to contend the title of Intramural Champions amongst themselves. Expectations are rising, as it the race for the topscorer titles!

And so, before the real games truly begin, let's take a look at the perennial "story so far"...

Scorers and Team Rankings have been updated for all games up to (and including) Sunday May 25th.

In Men's B, the proceedings have been mainly dominated by three players so far. At the top, Omar Sobhi's form has been largely in synch with that of his teammates: the Team Manayek forward takes the lead with 5

and has largely contributed to his team's regular season first rank in the standings. One step below, the 2nd and 3rd spots on the podium are shared by Elio Druml (Brecon FC) and Jonathan Morier (MISN Impossible), tied at 4

. But watch out for Yoonsoo Kim, Josué Lucate, Mac Ojiaku lurking behind...

In Men's C, the top trio configuration exactly matches that of Men's B: a single player with 5

at the top (John Coch, Ghetto United), followed by two others tied for goals at 4

(Game Grinders teammates Ali Zohouri Zangeneh and Sofiene Boujbel). With only two games left in the tournament (assuming all of these players qualify for the final), the race is on!

Down in Co-Rec B, there really can be no mistake on who's taking the scoring charts by storm! Simon Booth has been absolutely on fire, scoring a hat-trick and every single one of his Club Med games except the last (where he had to be satisfied with a "simple" double): if you do the math that's 14

in 5 matches! Truly stunning stuff, and nothing which Irfan Qureshi (Lower Field Utd) and Jonathan Morier (Screaming Scoregasms) can compete with. The two MISN Impossible (MB) teammates sit 2nd and 3rd with 7

each.

Hello soccer enthusiasts, welcome to the Spring 2009 McGill Intramurals!!

Now at their 5th year of existence, the Spring Intramurals have become an established tradition of the McGill sports community, gaining considerable popularity since their inception in 2005 and continuing to grow in numbers through time. We started with 13 registered teams and a single division our first year, growing to nearly 30 teams in three separate divisions according to the following plan:

Men's B	12 teams
Men's C	6 teams
Co-Rec B	11 teams

Following the 5-game regular season, ALL of the Spring League divisions will have a single elimination playoff in order to crown a champion. Players from each winning team will be eligible to receive the very prized McGill intramural mugs!!!

So once again, McGill Athletics is pleased to organize a soccer league during Springtime and hopes you all enjoy the competition!
